Crestmont University is committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of our community. The Jeanne Clery Act Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to collect, disclose, and share information about campus crime and safety policies.
Who is Jeanne Clery?
Jeanne Ann Clery was a 19-year-old college student at Lehigh University who was tragically raped and murdered in her campus residence hall on April 5, 1986.
Her parents, Connie and Howard Clery, turned their grief into a mission to improve campus safety for all students. They advocated for greater transparency in reporting campus crime, which led to the passage of the Clery Act of 1990.
Jeanne’s legacy continues to make a difference by helping to ensure that students at colleges and universities across the country have access to important safety information.
Jeanne’s life and legacy remind us that safety, awareness, and community make a difference.
